Try a Trade

What is it?

Try-A-Trade is an excellent opportunity to help students make an informed decision about a career in plumbing and gasfitting, painting and decorating or building and construction. Try-A-Trade is a short practical three day hands-on program aimed at providing stuents with some insight into plumbing and gasfitting, painting and decorating or building and construciton trades.
 

Where will the program be delivered?

Try-A-Trade can be delivered at St Norbert College in Queens Park or John Forrest
Secondary College Trade Training Centre in Morley.
 

Who can participate?

Students in year 9 and 10.
 

How many can participate?

Minimum of 12 students to a maximum of 16.
 

What trades are available?

Plumbing and gasfitting, painting and decorating and building and construction.
 

Who should attend?

We recommend that students are selected based on genuine interest and aptitude.
 

Is there an assessment?

No, there is no formal assessment.
 

What will it cost?

No cost to the school or students. This programme is fully funded by the Construction Training Fund.
 

Can our school do more than one program?

Yes, subject to availability.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry.  We acknowledge the support of the Contruction Training Fund in reducing the cost of training for eligible workers.
