History of MPA Skills

Building on Good Foundations

To understand our vision for the future you have to know a little about our past.

The Plumbing and Painting Industry Skills and Technology Company Inc (PPISTC) was established in 1993 as a joint initiative of the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association and the Master Painters, Decorators and Signwriters Association of Western Australia. In a tripartite agreement with the Unions and the State Government in 1999 PPISTC consolidated and became the Plumbing and Painting Training Company trading as MPA Skills. In 1998 the arrival of the User Choice federal initiative allowed MPA Skills to grow.

In 1993 MPA Skills constructed the multi-purpose workshop to assist with simulated training.

In 1993 MPA Skills opened it's Bayswater Campus in Durham Road, Baywater where the majority of plumbing training is conducted. The Bayswater campus underwent some major renovations and improvements and was officially opened in May 2010.

Since opening MPA Skills has achieved unprecedented success and is now one of the largest, if not the largest, private industry training provider organisation in Australia with a broad based, dynamic curriculum, a history of over 17,000 students and an enviable reputation for innovative excellence.
