Murray Thomas (CEO MPA Skills) address

  • Chief Executive Officer’s Address

On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Master Plumbers & Gasfitters Association and the Master Painters Association in conjunction with the Board of MPA Skills I would like to thank Di Turner for her vision and passion in entering into this exciting school based / industry project which we believe is a best practice model where students, still in school, can embark on a career pathway in their chosen profession of plumbing and painting whilst also achieving their High School certificate.

Our enthusiastic trainer Shane Calegari should also be congratulated. His vision has now become a reality. Well done Shane.

I know Kaye Pearson from John Forrest Senior High School has also put an enormous amount of energy into this program. Thank you Kaye.

Over the last 2 ½ years the program has been a success for plumbing and MPA Skills now looks forward to a long standing relationship with John Forrest Senior High School in plumbing and painting training.

I would like to thank the Honourable Member for Maylands, Judy Edwards, for her ongoing support to MPA Skills and the Master Plumbers and Master Painters Associations. Her assistance in supporting the submission between MPA Skills and John Forrest Senior High School has been fantastic. Thank you Judy.

Thank you also to the panel and the selection committee who have entrusted us to embark on this exciting innovative school and industry program.

Lastly, the State and Federal Governments should be congratulated for their vision and in the allocation of funding for this program to commence for our local youth of today to become our tradespeople for tomorrow. Thank you Minister.
