Certificate II in Painting & Decorating (Pre Apprenticeship)

INTRODUCTION:

This course targets those wishing to enter the painting and decorating trade. Successful completion will provide direct articulation into an indentured apprenticeshp (Certificate III) in the painting and decorating trade. Successful completion will also provide a three month reduction in the nominal term for the associated certificate apprenticeship.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:

Course graduates will need to be indentured by an employer or apply to be indentured through MPA Skills Group Training Organisation before they can go on to training as an apprentice. Graduates have an improved chance of gaining an apprenticeship, as they have already covered part of the off-the-job training and will have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to their training in the industry.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENT:

An interest in a career in the painting and decorating industry. Applicants are required to attend our offices for an interview before being accepted on the course. Completion of Year 10 with sound maths and English is required. Note: A colour vision clearance will be required to gain a painting and decorating apprenticeship.

COURSE DURATION:

15 weeks full-time (600 Hours).

Details of the course tuition and administration fees are available upon request. Fee reductions are available for students providing proof of approved concession upon enrolment.

Applications for Concession cards are to be made through Centrelink. MPA Skills will supply supporting documentation on request.

This course is AUSTUDY, ABSTUDY and YOUTH ALLOWANCE approved.

Pre Apprentice Scholarship

A $250.00 scholarship is available to all students who successfully complete their Pre Apprenticeship course.

This scholarship is subsidised by the Construction Training Fund

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL):

MPA Skills can provide RPL as any prior learning can result in the awarding of credit for a unit of competency or for a whole course. Under the guidelines for mutual recognition, any relevant competencies achieved through previous training can be credited against our courses. Please contact us for more details.
