How
MPA Skills Apprentice Employment Works
Apprentice Employment is an employment and training arrangement
whereby MPA Skills Apprentice Employment employs apprentices under
an Apprenticeship Contract and places them with Host Employers.
MPA Skills Apprentice Employment deals with the employer responsibilities
involved in apprenticeships. We are responsible for the pastoral
care and support of apprentices, essential in ensuring that they
achieve successful completion of their apprenticeship contract.
MPA Skills Apprentice Employment provides a flexible and efficient
service to enable you as a participating employer to host MPA Skills
apprentices.
We choose our apprentices carefully using our tried and tested
screening process and the majority of our apprentices have undertaken
a pre-apprenticeship in their trade. We look for motivated, enthusiastic
apprentices who undertake a comprehensive induction prior to employment.
As a Host Employer you advise us of your requirements, eg year
level, skills required and length of time the apprentices may be
required for. We then match a suitable apprentice to those needs.
You have the opportunity to meet the apprentice prior to committing
to hosting them.
Following a suitable match the apprentice is placed out in industry
with you as the participating Host Employer to gain on-the-job training
and experience. As a Host Employer you need to provide the apprentice
with a safe working environment, adequate and suitable on-the-job
training, appropriate supervision and allow time for the apprentice
to attend off-the-job training.
The majority of our Host Employers run small to medium sized businesses
so the flexibility of Apprentice Employment apprentices works well.
Our apprentices require access to their Field Officers or other
MPA Skills staff on site as and when required as we are responsible
for monitoring apprentices both on and off-the-job to ensure adequate
progress is being maintained.
We look after and are responsible for all paperwork relating to
the apprentice including wages, workers’ compensation, superannuation,
tax, sick and holiday pay. We deal with workplace issues promptly
and efficiently and manage any disciplinary issues which may arise.
