MPA Skills delivers a wide range of accredited training courses. Many of our courses are supported and funded by the WA Department of Education and Training or the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (BCITF). Some courses require texts or additional resources.

Painting Pre Apprentice Courses
CPC10108 This course targets those entering the painting and decorating trades. Successful completion will provide direct articulation into an indentured apprenticeshp (Certificate III) in the painting and decorating trade. Successful completion will also provide a three month reduction in the nominal term for the Cert III apprenticeship.

This course has been developed as a Certificate III apprenticehip course that aligns to the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package. It is a course developed to meet the declared trades legislation of WA and to meet the needs of the Painting and Decorating sector.

Successful compltion of this course and apprenticeship will enable a student to apply for a Tradesperson's Certificate in Painting and Decorating. A qualified Tradesperson can then continue post trade studies to gain the Painters Registration and various other Post trade competencies.

Painters' Registration

This course meets the requirements of those seeking registration with the Painter's Registration Board.

There are three pathways into this short course:

  • People who hold a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or a qualification equivalent to this, or
  • People with skills and experience in painting and decorating who can demonstrate this in a practical test which is a subset of the Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or
  • People who are deemed by the Painters' Registration Board to merit special entry.

There are two definable client groups -

  • First, people who have graduated in WA, or have equivalent qualifications, and wish to develop and/or demonstrate their skills and competencies to become registered painters.
  • The second group are people who do not have trade qualifications and need to demonstrate their painting knowledge and skills as well develop and/or demonstrate competencies to be recognised as registered painters.

The course consits of three mandatory competencies and one knowledge module -

  • BSBCMN401A - Establish business and legal requirements
  • BCGPD3001B - Prepare surfaces for painting
  • BCGBC4004A - Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects

Course Content:
- Prepare Surfaces for Painting - 7 days
- Estimating and Specifications - 5 days
- Business Management - 5 days
- Painting Trade Test - 1 day

 

 CPCCPD3009A Assess various surfaces and materials, Apply products safely to standards set by manufacturers, Safe use of products, hazardous materials and processes used in graffiti removal.

Pre-Apprentice Scholarship

A $250.00 scholarship is available to all students who successfully complete their Pre Apprenticeship course.

This scholarship is subsidised by the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund

$200 Training Voucher for Small Business
